Exhibition: 'Women Are Not Given'
Have you ever considered the plight of a young woman married against her will? How does she feel, and what do we perceive about her solitude as she is trapped in circumstances dictated by others? This exhibition, curated by the association Valentes i Acompanyades, features impactful photographs by Albert Tudela that reveal the hidden and cruel realities of gender-based violence, particularly the practice of forced marriages, which persists globally, even among our neighbors. Through this visual narrative, Siham El Kafroune and Henda Diawara guide us to understand the spectrum of emotions from helplessness to rebellion and resilience. This exhibition calls for empathy, awareness, and advocacy for equality, emphasizing that women are not commodities to be given, sold, or traded.
