Celebrating Rural Women of Girona

This exhibition is tied to the book 'Rural Women of Girona' and forms part of the rural women project initiated by the Catalan Women's Institute. It aims to honor the invaluable contributions of rural women to society while advocating for their significant roles across various communities in our region. The exhibition showcases the stories of 50 diverse women who have defied expectations, oftentimes choosing careers far removed from conventional roles for their time. These women hail from small towns, some strictly rural, while others come from larger municipalities but have devoted their lives to serving rural areas or engaging in primary-sector work. Their stories reveal the importance of their labor, including farming, livestock rearing, and mountain rescue operations.
