Talk 'The Bread Riot'
Join historian Isabel Segura Soriano as she discusses the Bread Riot that occurred in Barcelona in 1789. In February of that year, a municipal edict announced a rise in bread prices, sparking outrage among the women of the city. This revolt quickly spread to other towns in Catalonia, highlighting the social tensions and economic struggles of the time. This talk will provide insights into the historical context and significance of the riot, shedding light on the factors that led to the unrest. The event is organized by the Centre d'Estudis i Recerca Històrica del Poble-sec and will take place on Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the Biblioteca Poble-sec - Francesc Boix, located at Carrer de Blai, 34, Sants-Montjuïc, Barcelona.
