Picasso and Cypriot Ceramics Exhibition

This exhibition examines Pablo Picasso's connection to Cypriot antiquities, despite him never visiting Cyprus. Through European museum collections and specialized publications, Picasso's fascination with Cypriot art forms and symbols is explored. The exhibition not only showcases a selection of works from European museums but also highlights the creativity and hybrid styles of ancient Cypriot art, characterized by playful and expressive representations of human and animal figures. With significant contributions from the Picasso Museum in Barcelona and the Department of Antiquities in Cyprus, curators Emmanuel Guigon, Androula Michael, and Efthymia Alphas lead this insightful exploration.
