On March 6, 2026, the Biblioteca de Catalunya will host the 'Josep M. Castellet, Editor: Exploring a Legacy' conference. This event is part of the Year of Josep M. Castellet, and aims to delve into the editorial world and its pivotal role in shaping both literary and linguistic culture. Having joined Edicions 62 in 1964, Castellet faced a unique opportunity: to develop a significant editorial catalog that would greatly influence contemporary Catalan culture and help establish a canon for Catalan literature. He facilitated translations of authors from around the world and empowered new literary generations in the Catalan language. Today, the conditions for publishing in Catalonia have dramatically shifted since Castellet's time, but his crucial contributions continue to illuminate current challenges and the roles of various stakeholders in the book industry.
