Joaquim Gomis: A Transatlantic Journey Exhibition

This exhibition at the Vestíbul celebrates Joaquim Gomis, a pivotal figure in the history of the Foundation. Before becoming its first president and a dedicated advocate for modern culture, Gomis made numerous trips to the United States during the 1920s, capturing the country's remarkable transformation. Armed with only a camera and incredible visual intuition, he documented oil fields, cotton industry landscapes, emerging skyscrapers, and even details of the ocean liner transporting him across the sea. These iconic images reveal a youthful, self-taught Gomis, and offer a glimpse into the pioneering spirit of an artist ahead of his time.
