Glass is one of the earliest synthetic materials made by humans and is the star of one of the most remarkable collections in the museum, unique in Catalonia. Necklaces, pendants, pitchers, teardrop bottles... This exhibition features glass found in the excavations at Empúries, Puig des Molins, and Mallorca, as well as acquisitions and donations from individuals. In the three areas structured within the exhibition, visitors will appreciate a carefully curated selection of ancient glass spanning various historical periods. The discovery of glass marked the culmination of a series of processes enabling the creation of a molten, semi-plastic mass, which could be worked hot into various shapes. Glass is odorless, does not alter taste, is reusable, and easily recyclable. These qualities have made it a material serving diverse needs since its discovery over 4,000 years ago, emphasizing its historical significance.
