Exhibition 'Autopenetration' by Eugenio Barba / Odin Teatret

Eugenio Barba (Brindisi, 1936) founded Odin Teatret and champions the 'Third Theatre', emerging in the 1970s in the peripheries of major European and Latin American capitals. This movement, independent of institutions and avant-gardes, focuses on exploring one's roots. Its hallmark is collective creation and non-hierarchical organization of work. Barba and his company share a desire to delve into the depths while exploring the distant. The exhibition covers their activities from 1971 to 1979, highlighting forms of dissent that began with what Barba called collective self-penetration, which later took to the streets of Europe and Latin America.
