The 'Darwin in Botany' exhibition explores the lesser-known side of Charles Darwin, who is primarily celebrated for his theory of natural selection related to animals. This informative exhibit highlights Darwin’s passion for plant studies, which he utilized as a vital means for testing his evolution theories. Out of the 15 books he published, six focused specifically on plants, including orchids, carnivorous plants, and various horticultural species. The exhibition invites visitors into Darwin's laboratory, featuring over a hundred living plant specimens that he experimented with. These specimens are accompanied by illustrations, models, and scent devices that chronologically narrate the botanical discoveries that fundamentally changed our understanding of nature. The show also provides a more personal view of Darwin, depicting his gardening endeavors at Down House near London, supported by his family and gardening enthusiasts.
