The exhibition titled 'We Are Seventeen' showcases a collective portrait crafted by over three hundred young individuals through photography, film, and narrative. This project reflects their aspirations, concerns, and experiences. Historically, young people have rarely had the opportunity to portray and express themselves as they do today, thanks to the widespread availability of production and dissemination tools. However, opportunities to find a platform for their voices remain scarce. This exhibition, which culminates a two-year initiative, aims to challenge existing prejudices that adults hold against youth and to break free from limiting modes of representation. For the first time in Barcelona, pieces by filmmaker Johan van der Keuken, who captured portraits of his friends at seventeen in 1955, will be displayed, illustrating an audacious act of self-assertion and storytelling.
