The Barcelona Photographic Archive is dedicated to the preservation, treatment, description, and dissemination of the city's photographic heritage. It houses over four million photographs dating from 1844 to the present, sourced from professional and amateur photographers, editorial firms, prominent society members, institutions, families, citizens, and the City Council. Located on the second floor of the old Convent of Sant Agustí, this archive features a consultation room, workspaces, laboratories, storage designed for photo preservation, and an exhibition area that periodically showcases photographs from its collections. During guided visits led by archive technicians, participants can explore areas typically off-limits to the public, including the conservation workshop, reprography space, and the collections storage.
