This conference focuses on the key mechanisms used by our sensory neurons to detect various types of stimuli such as tactile sensations, temperature, and pain. It will explore how these stimuli are processed in the brain and what occurs when these mechanisms malfunction, leading to issues like chronic pain and altered perception. Delivered by Xavier Gasull, a professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Barcelona and a researcher at DIBAPS, the talk aims to deepen our understanding of the neural processes involved in pain perception and the changes that occur within neurons during chronic or inflammatory pain. Attendees will gain insight into the biological foundations of how we experience touch and pain, enhancing our appreciation of sensory biology.
