The Tempest is one of William Shakespeare's greatest and most magical texts. Synopsis: A storm shipwrecks Alonso, King of Naples, his son Ferdinand, and Antonio, who usurped the Duchy of Milan from his brother. The storm is caused by Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, who has led them to the remote island where he has lived in exile with his daughter Miranda. The shipwreck sets in motion his vengeful plan, which plays with love and despair, to reclaim what was taken from him, using secret powers of nature. Prospero knows the occult sciences and can control the spirits of the island, like Ariel, whom he has bound to his service, or the unfortunate Caliban. This begins one of Shakespeare's greatest and most profound stories, the last in chronology and maturity that has reached our days.
