Show: The Master and the Sea

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Franco's death, we present 'The Master and the Sea', a historical memory play written and directed by Eu Manzanares. Based on the true story of Antoni Benaiges, a Catalan teacher murdered in July 1936 in La Pedraja, Burgos, the play follows Julia, a girl from Barcelona spending her last summer at her grandparents' village. As a mass grave from the Civil War is exhumed nearby, she discovers an old metal box in her grandfather's yard containing childhood memories. The contents of the box and the grave hold a shared history that Julia is determined to investigate.
