Permanent Exhibition: Collector's Cabinet

The Collector's Cabinet allows visitors to explore a unique museum experience without leaving the same building. Originally named the Sentimental Museum by Frederic Marès, this section aims to revive the tradition of the early collector's cabinets filled with antiques and curiosities. Visitors can wander through 17 rooms, each hosting thousands of charming and curious objects that reflect the lifestyle and customs of the past, particularly from the 19th century. The original layout of the collections has been maintained, along with the names assigned by Marès to each room, the eclectic presentation of items, and the intimate atmosphere that easily transports us to the fascinating world of collecting. This exhibition not only showcases a diverse range of historical artifacts but also immerses visitors in the rich cultural heritage that they represent.
