PROGRAM: Saturday, October 25: The Battle of the Ebro. Visit to the Memorial Museum of the Battle of the Ebro in Gandesa and the Old Town of Corbera d'Ebre, a symbol and witness of the violence and brutal consequences of the war. We will also visit the Picasso Center in Horta de Sant Joan, where Picasso spent some time in 1899 and 1909, a fundamental place in the artist's formation. Thursday, November 6: War Conflict Spaces and Resistance in Barcelona. Visit to the replica of the Pavilion of the Republic from the 1937 Universal Exhibition in Paris, built in the Horta neighborhood of Barcelona in 1992. Originally conceived as a showcase against fascism and as a testimony to the tragic political situation of the country, it showcased the main cultural contributions and social and legislative work of the republican government. Built by Josep Lluis Sert and Luis Lacasa, Luis Buñuel was responsible for the audiovisual production, and Picasso's Guernica was exhibited there, a replica of which can also be seen in the Horta building. We will also visit the bunkers of Turó de la Rovira and some of the air raid shelters still preserved in the city. Saturday, November 22: Exile Route. Visit to various sites in southern France where thousands of republicans exiled during the Spanish Civil War: the beach of Argelers (Argelès-sur-Mer), the Maternity of Elna, or the Memorial of the Rivesaltes Camp. Known in France as the "Retirada", many artists and intellectuals were part of this exodus, leaving their creative mark in internment camps or forced labor companies. A cultural legacy increasingly recognized and highlighted by poets and writers such as Joan Oliver and Agustí Bartra and artists like Josep Bartolí, Josep Narro, Antoni Clavé, Baltasar Lobo, and many others.
