Exhibition: 'Sewing Universes: Artisanal Creativity'

The exhibition titled 'Sewing Universes: homo faber, homo ludens' at the Centre d'Artesania Catalunya invites reflection on contemporary craftsmanship and its evolution. This is not the stereotypical image of craftsmanship from history, but a recognition of how human disruptions and the industrial revolution have transformed our perception. Despite these changes, the prestige of artisanal creation—grounded in the tactile nature of working with materials—persists today. This biennial aims to celebrate the return to artisanal practices, symbolizing a human connection to nature and a grounding in identities through traditional skills. Attendees are encouraged to explore the blurred lines between craftsmanship and art, handwork and machinery, and ancestral memories versus emerging technologies. The exhibit highlights the idea that art and craftsmanship are not opposites but rather complementary fields that nourish each other, creating a fertile space for limitless creativity.
