In 1975, on Christmas morning, Luis Maria Xirinacs initiated a powerful act of nonviolent civil disobedience in front of the Model Prison in Barcelona, advocating for the amnesty of political prisoners under the Franco dictatorship. This action not only became iconic within the antifranquism movement but also symbolized the broader struggle for fundamental rights and freedoms in Spain. Xirinacs' approach attracted a diverse group of supporters, ranging from renowned political figures to everyday activists, all united in validating and amplifying his cause. From November 29, 2025, to February 1, 2026, the Model Prison will host the exhibition titled "Xirinacs 1975. The Power of Nonviolence." Curated by Carlos Ángel Ordas García and produced in collaboration with the Randa Foundation, the exhibition will commemorate Xirinacs' legacy through various activities, including an inaugural concert by the Coral Xirinacs 2025 and guided tours.
