'FāSL' focuses on the connections between the diacritical signs of the Arabic language and body movement, paying special attention to the context in which these connections are expressed. With a formal language of infinite variations, Lebanese artist Nivine Kallas dances the language and writes the dance. She resonates with words, signs, and body movements, playing with silence. With headphones on, sharing 70s and 80s Arab pop music with the audience, projected drawings in the background, she explores these different states with total freedom of improvisation, opening her inner space to the audience. Nivine Kallas is a choreographer, actress, and Gùnshǒu. She holds a degree in Dramatic Arts from the Lebanese University of Fine Arts. In 2002, Nivine professionalized in traditional and modern dance with the Caracalla company, the most prominent dance theater in the Middle East since 1968. She launched 'Tarantism' in 2021 in Beirut, an experimental dance form akin to mania. Today, her new creation 'FāSL' weaves the links between the Arabic language and body movement, continuing to tour France and Europe. Currently, her new show questions the behavioral repression of an obsolete educational system. Choreography and performance by Nivine Kallas / Dramaturgy by Mounzer Baalbaki. Co-produced by Charleroi danse - Centre chorégraphique de Wallonie-Bruxelles, UNESCO BERYT, Hammana Artist House, Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). Schedule: Friday and Saturday at 18:00. General entry: €12.
