Led by Laia Mestre, who has a background in Journalism and Humanities and is specialized in art and literature. Since 2015, she has focused on promoting cultural heritage, having worked for a decade as a cultural mediator at the National Art Museum of Catalonia while also teaching and giving talks at various cultural institutions. Throughout art history, many women artists have been overlooked despite their significant contributions to visual languages. This conference explores how the narratives of art history have been incomplete and what mechanisms have silenced women artists. We will discuss how to rewrite this narrative to include the works, experiences, and perspectives of women artists. The discussion will encompass brave female painters and sculptors who challenged the norms of their time, and we will debate the roles of museums, research, and education in expanding and repairing the canon of art history.
