Conference: "Great Conversations. Fascism and (Dis)Memory"

In a context marked by the rise of new expressions of the far right, the trivialization of authoritarian discourses, and disputes surrounding historical memory, this inaugural conference proposes a reflection on the relationships between fascism, democracy, and collective memory. What remains today of the fascisms of the 20th century? How are their narratives constructed and transformed? What role do memory policies play in defending democratic values? What risks do forgetting, distortion, or instrumentalization of the past entail? The session is led by Jordi Mir and Xavier Casals, moderated by Xavier Menéndez, with a presentation of the topic and an opening for subsequent discussion.
