The Maritime Museum of Barcelona continues its conference cycle to celebrate 100 years of planetariums and 30 years of the Aula del Cosmos planetarium. This series combines science, culture, and humanities, exploring everything from the discovery of our planet to the great questions of cosmology, intertwined with the symbolic imagery of mythology. This cycle invites us to better understand our place in the universe. The conferences will be led by Albert Pla, director of the Aula del Cosmos. - November 6, 2025, from 18:00 to 19:30: "Constellations, Cultures, and Cosmogonies". This talk will explore the symbolic world of the sky, discussing the classical mythology of constellations from the ancient Babylonian zodiac to the new southern constellations, providing a historical and geographical overview of how different cultures interpret celestial figures. - December 4, 2025, from 18:00 to 19:30: "Cosmology: Exploring the Invisible Universe". This session will delve into what we really know about the universe we inhabit, discussing modern cosmology's evolution and the scientific advancements that have allowed us to understand phenomena like black holes and the fabric of space. - January 8, 2026, from 18:00 to 19:00: "The Discovery of Earth II. Limitless Travels: From Prestige to Scientific Exploration". This talk will cover extreme explorations and discoveries, focusing on the challenges faced by explorers and the technological advancements that have facilitated these expeditions. At the end of the session, participants will have a surprise: a virtual journey to Mars with the "Perseverance" rover and its drone "Ingenuity".
