The Catalan mythology is a rich source of narratives and characters that, despite being overshadowed by other mythologies such as Nordic or Celtic, remains vibrant. Contemporary fantasy authors are increasingly drawing inspiration from the orally transmitted tales across Catalonia to craft new stories and reinterpret this imaginative heritage. As part of the main exhibition for the fifth edition of Festival 42, you can explore around fifteen of the most popular and deeply-rooted characters from Catalan folklore and see how they connect with the global literary framework. From Joan de l’Os, who introduces themes reminiscent of American superhero fiction, to the legends of the Serpent, which echo stories from 'Dragon Ball', and the glittering swords that link to the Arthurian Cycle. The exhibition features illustrations by Laia Baldevey, who expertly brings mythology to life in her artwork. Her notable works include 'Mythology of the Catalan Countries' and 'Mythology of Montserrat'. This
