Catalan Mythology Exhibition

The Catalan mythology exhibition showcases a rich source of narratives and characters that have long been overshadowed by other mythological systems such as Norse or Celtic mythologies. Contemporary authors in the fantasy genre are now rediscovering the oral traditions of Catalonia, drawing inspiration from these tales to craft new stories or reinterpret established narratives. This main exhibition for the fifth edition of Festival 42 features about fifteen of the most popular and deep-rooted figures from Catalan folklore, linking them to a global literary context. From Joan de l'Os, who resonates with American superhero fiction, to the legends of the Serpent, reminiscent of Dragon Ball, and the starlit swords tied to Arthurian tales, this exhibition vividly illustrates the connections between these characters and modern storytelling. Curated by Laia Baldevey, a specialist in visualizing mythology, her notable works include 'Mythology of the Catalan Countries' and 'Mythology of Mounts.
