In 2026, Barcelona will become the World Capital of Architecture, hosting an international event filled with activities related to this discipline. The extensive program, designed for and by the citizens, results from an open call by the Barcelona City Council last year, allowing institutions to collaborate closely with schools, universities, and cultural entities. The program includes over 200 proposals translating into more than 1,500 activities, such as exhibitions, guided tours, conferences, workshops, open days, and competitions across all ten districts of the city. A total of 170 entities have collaborated in this initiative. From Santa Eulàlia to Santa Llúcia, Barcelona will be the epicenter of global architecture, leading discussions on urbanism and landscape design to develop solutions for future generations. Additionally, the city will host the World Congress of Architecture organized by the International Union of Architects (UIA) from June 28 to July 2. The program aims to highlight Barcelona as a global reference for humanistic and transformative architecture committed to people, sustainability, and culture. It will also include a specific program for primary and secondary educational centers in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, focusing on architecture. The official launch will take place on February 12, Santa Eulàlia's day, with a major institutional event and various citizen participation activities across the city. The closing will occur on December 13, Santa Llúcia's day, marking ten months of activities. Each month, one of the ten districts will be the focal point of the World Capital of Architecture, showcasing its architectural and urban characteristics and its vibrant life. The program will also feature exhibitions at various venues, including the old headquarters of Editorial Gustavo Gili, showcasing a large model of Barcelona and two exhibitions reflecting on the city's dynamic and evolving nature. Join us in celebrating this monumental event! Schedule: Various activities throughout 2026. Prices: Unknown.
