Ancient Music - The Original Sound: Concert by Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya

The Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya, directed by Lluís Vilamajó, presents a concert featuring one of the finest choral works of Hispanic music: the Missa pro Defunctis (Requiem) by Cristóbal de Morales. Alongside works by Francisco Guerrero and Tomás Luis de Victoria, Morales' five-voice mass is a unique piece of late 16th-century Castilian polyphony. This work invites serene meditation, akin to the mystical experiences of Santa Teresa of Ávila and Saint John of the Cross, who were contemporaries of Morales.
