On June 10, 1985, Alejo Cuervo opened the specialized fantastic genre bookstore Gigamesh in Ronda de Sant Pere, Barcelona, sharing space with a ceramics business. Forty years later, now located on Calle Bailén, it has become a reference point for fandom, affectionately referred to as 'The Temple.' Gigamesh is not just a store; it is a cultural hub for fans of the fantastic, hosting presentations, book clubs, podcast recordings, and tabletop and role-playing games, fostering a loyal and intergenerational community. Alongside this business, the publishing label of the same name was created, which popularized works like 'A Game of Thrones' by George R. R. Martin in Spain. Without Gigamesh, the landscape of fantastic genres and fandom in Catalonia and Spain would be vastly different. The 42nd Festival previously awarded Cuervo an Honorary Award two editions ago, and now we wish to pay tribute to him. This tribute will feature Alejo Cuervo and bookseller Isabel del Río, moderated by Carla Plumed, co-host of 'Furia en la librería,' which is recorded monthly at Gigamesh. Participants: Alejo Cuervo, Isabel del Río. Moderator: Carla Plumed. Schedule: Friday at 18:30. Free entry, limited capacity. Note: This event is suitable for all ages and fans of literature and culture, especially those interested in the fantastic genre.
